These photos are documents of an experiment in materials. In summer 2009, I filled 100 sand bags, each weighing 50 pounds, and brought them to my studio to use as building blocks. From these studies an able design and several sculptural applications have emerged. The documents above represent one of several studies I completed wherein I

stacked the bags in a single row creating a partition. Every time a bus outside my studio crossed the intersection, the entire studio building shook, consequently knocking down the bags. I repeatedly set up the wall throughout the day, as every 20 minutes, with each passing bus, the partition tumbled.
