For Halloween 2009, Saucebox Restaurant asked me to create a handbill for their annual party. I photographed two approaches; an outdoor series shot at night, and a studio set where I used my hands to display the calendar date for the event. My intention was to shy away from gruesome or ironic imagery, and instead, create a photographic flyer that directly related to its typographic elements. I chose to apply the studio
images of my hands with Locura Display, a serif typeface with a thick body and sharp narrow serifs. Locura gave the perfect amount of Halloween spirit in contrast with Champion, an extra condensed sans serif used for the event details. I have included some alternate images from the outdoor series as well, to represent all efforts.
