937 Installation

The wall mounted installation above was designed for a private residence in collaboration with Caleb Freese. The installation was commissioned by Osmose Design, through the Heidi McBride Gallery, to produce an artwork that fit into a recessed area in a client’s living room. Freese and I drafted an idea for translating our digital 2D artwork into a layered installation. Much like a topographic map, our plan was to install a 48 layer composition intended to fill the recessed area until the layers became flush with the wall. We decided make

the piece from acrylic sheets which would be laser cut by Ray-gun Digital Artistry and then screen-printed colors consistent with the digital version of the artwork. We also created a steel bracket system, fabricated by Jethro Smith, to install the layers in the recessed area. It took roughly 6 months to design, fabricate, and install the piece.
